Phil is our lead strategist and a masterful bridge builder who brings a servant leadership approach to Upland’s work.  His personal mission is to help organizations and society at large to thrive during this time of rapid change and during a transformation to a new, healthier, brighter world.  His strength is in helping organizations to build on their ambitions to set a bold vision for growth and innovation.  He is fascinated by imagining the future and the opportunities and challenges it presents.

Phil is a 7th generation Michigander who gets inspired by the beauty of the state’s lakes and natural spaces.  He is Vice Chair of the state’s Council on Climate Solutions, charged with setting forth the path to decarbonize our economy, and he is also a hands-on advocate for sustainability and economic opportunity for all.  He is an avid hockey player and likes to hike and cycle across this beautiful state and beyond.
